UI Update + Chapter 2 Progress

Hey everyone! This is bat - writer and programmer - posting about what's been going on with duplicity loop recently. I also post progress on our twitter, but it's nice to be able to type and share a comprehensive view of things without a character limit.

We decided to rework the textbox so it's more readable and has better contrast with backgrounds. As part of that, we switched the font we were using. One benefit of the new font is that ellipses now take up more space... ... ...very important.

We've also added a new font option - just a simple sans-serif font (Roboto) that will replace the 'normal' set of fonts (textbox and all UI elements) for people who need it. Having pretty fonts is good, but so is having fonts that everyone can read...

The demo won't be updated, barring people expressing interest due to accessibility needs, but the new UI and font option will be in the full release. Since we still have a ways to go, it might even be that we end up reworking the UI again (hopefully not - I really love the little heart on the choice buttons that jumps up when you hover).

As for other progress: Chapter 2 is almost done. The entire chapter has been written and scripted in the game, with only a few missing art assets (some additional sprites and CG artworks) pending for the chapter to be at 100%. Counting the various branching options for the chapter, it was over 8000 words - twice as long as Chapter 1. The plan is for Chapter 3 to be closer to Chapter 1 in length, but we'll see.

Chapter 3 has been the subject of a lot of brainstorming sessions, and writing for the chapter has begun. Real life has been beating us both up (we've been sick for half of January at this point), but we're doing our best regardless.  There's a lot about all of the characters thus far that we weren't able to showcase in the demo, including some characters that didn't appear at all, so we're excited to get it all out into the world. For example, even though she's the first character to appear on-screen, Seraph really doesn't get to do much in Chapter 1, does she...? (As a creator, it might be rude to have favorites, but Seraph is one of mine. Her original design could have ended up being scrapped, but I told my partner we had to keep her! Isn't she adorable?)

Anyway. Barring sharing spoilers for Chapter 2 and 3, there isn't much else to share in terms of progress. Hopefully this time next month I can post here again saying that we're making headway on Chapter 4, since we won't get sick again in February. Hopefully. Thanks for reading!
